Privacy
This policy covers the personal website torbenmichler.de.
1. Controller
Torben MichlerBergstraße 8

Germany
Email: torben@torbenmichler.de
2. Hosting
The site is stored on a server that I rent from netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany, and operate myself. The server is located in a data centre in Germany; netcup provides hardware, power and the network connection and can technically access the stored data. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with netcup. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation in Germany).
3. Server logs
When you open the page, the server processes technically necessary data and writes it to logs:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time
- requested address, method and status code
- amount of data transferred and response time
- browser and operating system (user agent) and the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser sends them
The purpose is secure and reliable operation: finding errors and detecting and preventing attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The logs are not analysed to identify visitors and are overwritten automatically once they reach a set size (at most 30 MB).
4. No cookies, no analytics
The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics tools, advertising networks or social media plugins. Fonts are loaded from my own server, not from Google or other providers. One entry in your browser’s session storage only remembers that the short opening animation has already played; it is not transmitted and is deleted when you close the tab.
5. Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your details to answer your message (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns a possible contract or employment, otherwise (f)). I delete messages once they have been dealt with and no retention obligations apply.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). An informal email to torben@torbenmichler.de is enough. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the competent authority is the Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein, Holstenstraße 98, 24103 Kiel, Germany, datenschutzzentrum.de.
